The Biggest Loser

Just this week, I read an outstanding editorial review on the hit TV show The Biggest Loser. I am often asked about this show by both athletes and trainers, all of whom want my opinion on the show. Unfortunately, the tone of the show is so disturbing to me and I watch so little TV that I have only ever managed to watch about 5 minutes of it. This is what I tell everyone who asks... "What I have seen is dangerous and very disturbing on many levels. I also think that it is creating tremendous confusion for people who are trying to lose weight. However, since I've never really watched it that's about all I can say."

Thankfully, one of the fitness professionals who advocates a very rational approach to getting lean named Tom Venuto just posted an extensive review of the show. I think the review is outstanding and it brings to light some incredibly important points about weight loss, fat loss, body composition and learning real-life weight management skills.

Nutrition is one of the cornerstones of our approach to athletic development, but the focus is far more on the psychological self-management skills required to make it work in the real world than whether you need 85g or 95g of protein/day. Laughing

Enjoy the review, and if you have questions about the Z-Health approach to nutrition, contact the office so that we can help:
